The History of Department
The Department of Landscape-Park Management was established in October 2003 at the Faculty of Economics. The first head of the department was the candidate of economic sciences Zhybaka M.M. Today Zhybaka M.M. is a doctor of economic sciences, professor of economics.
In 2005, the department joined the compartment of Ecology and Landscape-Park Management and it was headed by S.M. Brylinskyy. In December 2006 the Department of Landscape-Park Management led the candidate of agricultural sciences Kuzovych V.S.
In 2009, during the reorganization, the department was renamed into the Department of Forestry and Landscape-Park Management and the head of the department was candidate of agricultural sciences Hryniuk Iu.H.
Since February 2012 the department is in the structure of Agro-Engineering Faculty and from September 2013 the department is headed by the candidate of agricultural sciences Kuzovych V.S.
The Department provides disciplines in the area of 6.090103 "Forestry Landscape-Park Management."
The aim of the educational-training activity of the department is the preparation of specialist for: the forest and landscape-park activities, cultivation and planting of seed in nurseries and greenhouses, works on landscaping, gardening and landscape design, execution of works concerning the designing of parks. The department has on a regular basis 3 PhDs, 1 senior teacher and 1 assistant.

The Research Work of the Department:
The Employees of the Department of Forestry and Landscape-Park Management together with students conduct the systematic scientific work studying the ecological and biological properties of trees’ species in terms of forest ecosystems in the region and their suitability for planting in the settlements. There are cultivated in an ornamental nursery, promising for green economy, types and forms of dendroflora.
Since 2011 has begun an inventorying and assessment of green plantations and the development of projects of improving the territories and reconstruction of parklands of Ternopil region on self-financing basis. These studies are combined with the scientific direction "The assessment of old parks of the Western Lowland and the recommendations on its improvement", in which is made an inventory and phytosanitary inspection of Zboriv City Park, green plantations adjacent to Yazlovetskyi castle, Mykulynetskyi park and the park-sanatorium "Cherche", urban square of Borschiv, and the park of landscape architecture in the village Bilche-Zolote. During the works, with an active participation of students of II-IV courses of the specialty «Forestry and Landscape-Park Management," were defined sanitary and ecological conditions of these places and were developed project proposals for their improvement and reconstruction.
The themes for the final bachelor works in the department, in addition to the forestry issues, includes also student scientific achievements in the field of GIS projects of greening the cities and villages, schools and more areas.
Modern GIS techniques, computer programs on landscape design and graphics are used during the inventorying and development works.
In addition, the department is involved in research thematic of the Institute for the complex topic "The development of scientific and information support of sustainable rural growth in Western Ukraine", state registration 0108U008826 and according to the initiative topics of public welfare and gardening of specific areas.
Under the supervision of the lecturers of the Department of Forestry and Landscape-Park Management works a scientific circle "Landscape and architectural design."
Students who are the members of the circle are involved in scientific researches in accordance with the scientific subject of the department "Assessment of old parks of the Western Lowland and development of recommendations for their improvement." During this work is done a valuation inventory together with the phytosanitary inspection of the park, is carried out a geodesic surveying of the territory, are planned a lot of measures to improve the tree and shrub species and are developed projects of reconstruction, landscaping and gardening.
The members of the circle have an opportunity to learn modern landscape design programs and means of computer modeling of landscape and architectural objects.
Educationally-methodical work of the department:
For the methodological providing of educational process in training the specialists of EQL "Bachelor" in the field 6.090103 "Forestry and Landscape-Park Management", the department has the following documents and materials: educational qualification characteristics and educational and vocational training program for specialists; diagnostic tools of education in SS NULES of Ukraine "Berezhany Agrotechnical Institute"; curriculum; training programs for all standards and optional subjects; program of production practices; textbooks and teaching aids approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine; individual semester tasks for independent work of students in different disciplines; teaching materials for students for independent study of professional literature, writing course projects (works) and diploma projects (works); instructional and teaching materials for seminars, practical and laboratory classes; control tasks to seminars, practical and laboratory classes; tests of academic disciplines to revise the mastering of educational material; work plans and programs; individual plans of teaching staff; sets of tasks for interim control of knowledge; sets of tests for final control of knowledge; criteria for evaluating the knowledge. All mentioned documents meet the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
Educational process and practical training of students of the department
The educational process of students is provided by modern laboratories and classrooms, laboratory of surveying forest and geodesy; study room of botany, dendrology and forestry; laboratory of ornamental horticulture; laboratory of genetics and selection; laboratory of mechanization of garden and park operations; laboratory of art and landscape graphics; study room of landscape design; floral design office; forest biology cabinet; cabinet of engineering graphics and study room of diploma work projection. The main types of training practices in the field 6.090103 "Forestry and Landscape Management" are: the foundations of professional training; geodesy; botany; computer science; forestry, soil science; forest breeding; production work; dendrology; recreational forestry; ornamental nurseries and seed; grass farming and lawns; landscape taxation; landscape architecture; landscape gardening construction; afforestation and industrial practice. For the purpose of passing these practices at the institute are developed relevant programs and are provided the appropriate framework practices. Educational practices of students, graduate and course works of students are held on the basis of real objects: Rayivskyy park (20 hectares); Berezhansky arboretum (area of 5 hectares); training nursery of SS NULES of Ukraine "Berezhany Agrotechnical Institute"; forest plantations in Berezhany district; industry leading enterprises, greenhouses, garden centers and nurseries regions.
